Newcastle is a hotbed of original music
Young bands and young musicians abound, spirred on by the success of such local bands as The Screaming Jets and Silverchair. A proliferation of young bands are creating a new wave of Australian music.
Ths SmokeStack CD project was initiated to expose some of this new music and to further their careers in the music industry. The musicians featured on the CD are all serious about careers as musicians.
We received over 130 entries for the CD and had a very hard job to select just 13 songs for release. The aim was to get a range of hihg quality music which would show off the stylistic and culteral diversity of young musicians from Newcastle and The Hunter Region.
